Mayor Jason Haymes

Biography: Mayor Jason Haymes and his wife Krista have been residents of Mt. Vernon since 1992. Mayor Haymes is a 1979 graduate of Willard High School in Willard, MO. He received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Murray State University (MSU) in Murray, KY in 1984; a Master of Science in Agriculture from MSU in 1985. Mayor Haymes received his Education Specialist degree in 2001 from University of Missouri-Columbia.
In 2015 Mayor Haymes retired from his 27 year career as a High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor; he taught 23 years at Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS). Mayor Haymes is currently self-employed.
Mayor Haymes’ wife, Krista, and he have been married 37 years. Krista retired from her career as a public school teacher in 2015. He and Krista have four children: Lindsay (MVHS ‘02), Jordan (MVHS ‘05), Katelyn (MVHS ‘06), and Seth (MVHS ‘11). Lindsay Seifried and husband Jeff live in Springfield, MO. Jordan Schrandt and husband Doug live in Billings, MO. Katelyn Haymes lives in Springfield, MO. Seth Haymes and wife Carmen live in Mt. Vernon, MO. Mayor Haymes and Krista also have nine grandchildren.
Mayor Haymes was previously a Board of Alderman member from 2013 until his election as Mayor in June of 2020.
