Mt. Vernon is proud to have seven parks, each with its own unique qualities and amenities, as well as a variety of recreational activities to choose from.

Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at the "Spirit of 76 Park" will open Saturday, May 26, 2018, Memorial Weekend. The pool is open for general swimming from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Saturday, and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Adult swims are 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. Admission for everyone will be $2.00. Age 2 & under free admission with a paid adult admission. Season passes (individual and/or family) may be purchased for $80.00 with any additional member at $10.00 per person..

Summer Recreation Program
The Summer Recreation Program begins on Monday June 18, 2018 and ends Friday, July 13, 2018. It is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., Monday thru Friday. Cost is $25.00 per child and applications may be picked up at the swimming pool.
A child is eligible if they have completed Kindergarten and up through the 5th.
Age groups are Kindergarten grade through 5th grade. Parents can sign up their child(ren) anytime at the pool, during pool hours of 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 466-2122 or the pool at 466-7688.

Mt. Vernon has a thriving sports program. The Mt. Vernon School System offers football, basketball, tennis, golf, and track during the school year. The Mt. Vernon sports program has a very loyal following in the citizens of Mt. Vernon, which can be evidenced by the attendance at the sports events throughout the year.

Mighty Mite Football is offered to kids from third to sixth grade during the fall of each year at the Middle School Mountaineer Stadium.

Soccer is also played in the spring and fall of the year and is available for kids from 5 to 15 years of age. Leagues play on Saturday's at the Spirit of '76 Park.

Basketball leagues are also available for girls and boys grades K to 6 at the Mt. Vernon Middle School South Gym. Leagues play from January to mid-March.

Softball and baseball are very popular during the summer. Leagues range in age from pre-school children to adults. Summer youth Softball and Baseball sign ups are Mid February. Leagues play May and June.
