Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at the "Spirit of 76 Park" will open Saturday, May 29, 2021, Memorial Weekend. During Summer School June 1 thru June 18, 2021 the pool will open Monday thru Friday 3 PM to 7 PM. The pool will open for general swimming from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday during this time. On June 19, 2021 the pool will open for general swimming from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Saturday, and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Adult swims will be 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. Admission for everyone will be $2.00. Children Age 2 & under will be free admission with a paid adult admission. Season passes for individual may be purchased for $80.00 with any additional member at $10.00 per person per household. Pool will close for the season Sunday, August 15, 2021

Summer Recreation Program
The Summer Recreation Program begins on Monday June 21, 2021 and ends Thursday, July 15, 2021. It is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., Monday thru Thursday. Cost is $25.00 per child and applications may be picked up at the swimming pool.
A child is eligible if they have completed Kindergarten and up through the 5th.
Age groups are Kindergarten grade through 5th grade. Parents can sign up their child(ren) anytime at the pool, during pool hours. If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 466-2122 or the pool at 466-7688. No Summer Recreation program on Red, White and Boom day.

Sports
Mt. Vernon has a thriving sports program. The Mt. Vernon School System offers football, basketball, tennis, golf, and track during the school year. The Mt. Vernon sports program has a very loyal following in the citizens of Mt. Vernon, which can be evidenced by the attendance at the sports events throughout the year.

Mighty Mite Football is offered to kids from third to sixth grade during the fall of each year at the Mountaineer Stadium. You can follow them on Facebook Mt. Vernon Mighty Mites

Soccer is also played in the spring and fall and is available for kids from 3 to 15 years of age. Leagues play on Saturday's at the Spirit of '76 Park. You can follow them on Facebook Lawrence County Youth Soccer or from their website, or email lcysa.mo.soccer@gmail.com
