Taxi Service

Attention: As of June 6, 2022 we have had to reduce days of service for lack of drivers. Our current days of operation is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will return to normal operations as soon as we find drivers. Thank you

The Taxi Service is part of the Mt. Vernon Transportation Department. A cab runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with a lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. This service is primarily for senior citizens and handicap citizens as a way to get around the city. Cost: $1.00 per ride (one way).

We have a reduce fare pass for Senior Citizens (65 or older) or Handicap Citizens $.50 per ride (one way). Ask one of your drivers or stop by City Hall for the forms, they can also be downloaded from this website.

The Taxi Service does not run in inclement weather or on holidays when City Hall is closed.

City of Mount Vernon Transportation snow policy When Mount Vernon R-V Schools closes due to weather, for the safety of our drivers and our passengers, the City of Mount Vernon Transportation will close as well on the first day of the closure. If the schools close a second day, we will evaluate the roads and parking lots and try to start by 10 am. A decision will be made by 9 am. Thank you for your understanding and support!

We now have two cabs running most days.
